The following case study provides an overview of my role and contributions as art director for Spartak Moscow Hockey Club during the 2018/2019 season.

It was an exhilarating journey where I was responsible for creating a diverse range of designs that brought the club's brand to life. From merchandise and tickets to banners and web graphics, I embraced the challenge of crafting captivating visuals that resonated with fans and amplified the club's image. Despite being the only designer on contract, I strategically collaborated with freelance contributors and a design studio to ensure that every design element adhered to the highest standards of quality and aligned with the club's branding guidelines.

A special holiday event

One of the defining moments of my tenure at Spartak Moscow Hockey Club was my role at Retro Game 2018, a special holiday event that paid homage to the club's storied history. Tasked with creating the event's visual identity, I delved into the club's heritage, merging nostalgia with contemporary design elements. Through retro-themed posters, banners, and digital assets, I successfully captured the spirit of the club's legacy, immersing fans and players alike in an unforgettable experience.

First drafts of a loyalty program mobile app

I spearheaded the design of a loyalty program app for the club. With a focus on creating a seamless user experience, I developed the app's information architecture and wireframes, collaborating closely with developers to bring the vision to life. The loyalty app empowered fans to earn points and unlock exclusive rewards, enhancing their connection with the club. The app was well-received, with fans appreciating the added benefits of being part of the loyalty program.

The website

I played a pivotal role in shaping the ticket sales system and online shop for the club's official website. I designed over 40 screens, carefully crafting wireframes and mockups to make sure the user experience was great. I streamlined the ticket purchase process, so fans would have an easy time buying tickets. It made fans feel closer to the club, boosting their overall satisfaction.

Merchandise

Designing goods for sale formed a significant part of my responsibilities. I meticulously crafted hundreds of unique merchandise items, ranging from jerseys and t-shirts to hats and scarves. The design process required meticulous attention to detail, to ensure that each design aligned seamlessly with the club's brand guidelines while also ensuring a visually appealing design. Working closely with manufacturers, I was responsible for overseeing the production process in order to ensure that the final products met the highest quality standards and accurately portrayed the club's brand identity.

Leaving my mark

Throughout my tenure at Spartak Moscow Hockey Club, I took immense pride in contributing to the club's brand identity and elevating the fan experience through my designs. This experience allowed me to refine my skills in design leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic collaboration. I am grateful for the opportunity to have played a significant role in shaping the club's visual identity during the 2018/2019 season, leaving a lasting impact on the fan community and the club's overall brand legacy.
